Bicycle Education Empowerment Program (BEEP)

The Bicycle Education Empowerment Program (BEEP) is an initiative by LIFELINE, in partnership with the 2 vande 52 , Netherland Wilde Ganzen Foundation, designed to improve educational access in Haripur Municipality, Nepal.

Core Mission

BEEP addresses high dropout rates and limited school access caused by economic hardships and geographical barriers. By providing bicycles, the program ensures students—particularly girls—have a safe, reliable, and efficient way to reach school.

Key Objectives

  • Increase Attendance: Reduce school dropouts by eliminating long, exhausting commutes.

  • Boost Performance: Improve academic results by decreasing student fatigue and travel time.

  • Promote Equality: Empower girls with independent transportation to overcome safety and mobility concerns.

  • Sustainability: Foster eco-friendly transportation and enhance community economic development.

  • Implementation Plan

  • The program targets 120 direct stakeholders, primarily students from disadvantaged families living more than 2 km from school. Key activities include:

Needs Assessment: Identifying eligible students through surveys and school collaboration.

  • Bicycle Distribution: Providing durable, low-maintenance bicycles to selected participants.

  • Training: Educating students on bicycle safety and basic maintenance for long-term use.

  • Monitoring: Tracking attendance and academic progress to evaluate program impact.
